Prices

How an IKEA collection is priced

There's no hourly meter. The price is for the job: what you're collecting, the access at your home, the drive from the store and the date. Your price depends on your items, access and date.

A flat-pack order from a store

from £100

One flat-pack box up to 25 kg, such as a bookcase or shelving unit, collected from a store and delivered a short local drive away, near the door at both ends, Monday to Thursday mid-month. Prices include VAT.

In the quote, each flat-pack item takes two answers: how many boxes, and how heavy the heaviest one is. Every box is planned at that weight, so the van and the carry are never smaller than your order needs. More boxes, heavier boxes, stairs or a long walk to the van at home, and a longer drive add time, and all of it is in the fixed price.

Collecting one assembled item instead? Single items start from £110 with a team of two. Every price is on our price list, and road charges such as the Congestion Charge show as their own line in the quote, never added afterwards.

What we collect

Flat-pack, boxed and bulky IKEA orders

Most of what you buy at IKEA comes flat in a box, and that's what we plan for. Tell us what's in your order and we price the collection on what you're actually taking home.

  • Flat-pack furniture

Wardrobes, beds, chests of drawers, tables and desks, bookcases and shelving, still in their boxes. Give the number of boxes and the weight of the heaviest box, and the quote works out the price from those.

  • Sofas in a box

A sofa that comes boxed is a bulky carry, so it's planned as one. Add the boxes and the heaviest box's weight, as for any flat-pack.

  • Boxed mattresses

A rolled mattress in its box is priced as that size of mattress, travelling boxed. Choose the size when you add it.

  • New appliances

A boxed washing machine, fridge freezer or other appliance, collected in its packaging and priced as that appliance. Some appliances need a quick check by our team before they can be priced.

  • A mixed store order

Boxes of homeware, lighting, textiles or storage. There's nothing to say what's inside each box, so our team checks a mixed order before a price is fixed.

  • Larger orders

Up to 30 flat-pack boxes, the heaviest up to 80 kg, are priced online. A bigger order goes to our team, who confirm a fixed price before you book.

Heavy boxes, every wardrobe box and a sofa in a box are planned as a two-person carry. Buying from another shop, an auction house or a seller online? See furniture collection and delivery in London or single item removals.

How it works

From the store's collection point to your front door

  1. 1

Buy your order and choose collection

Buy and pay for your IKEA order in store or online, and choose to collect it. Wait until the store tells you it's ready to collect.

  2. 2

    See your fixed price

Start a quote, choose Shop or retailer as the place we collect from, and add each item. For flat-pack, give the number of boxes and the weight of the heaviest box: check your order details or the box labels for both.

  3. 3

Book and add the collection details

Add your order or collection reference, a contact number for the store, and confirm the store has told you the order is ready and lets someone else collect it for you. After booking, upload your order confirmation, receipt or collection note.

  4. 4

    We collect and deliver

The operator who accepts your job collects your order from the store and delivers it to your address on the date you book, carried in to the floor you told us about. Your order is never held overnight.

Get a fixed price for your move. We check for a suitable moving team before you book. If one isn’t available, you can ask us to check your options.

Before you book

Six things to check before we collect

A store collection runs smoothly when the order is ready, the store knows someone else is collecting, and the route into your home is clear. Check these before you book.

  • The store's collection rules

Check whether the store releases orders to someone collecting on your behalf, and what it needs to see. You confirm this when you book, so ask first if you're not sure.

  • A collect-by date

Some orders must be collected by a set date. Add it when you book so the collection is planned before it runs out.

  • Everything paid for

We collect what you've bought and paid for. Anything still to pay, or a part of the order that isn't ready yet, needs sorting with the store first.

  • Your box count

The number of boxes, and the heaviest one, set the van, the carry and the time. Count every box for every product: a single wardrobe can come in several.

  • Long boxes and your stairs

Wardrobe and bed boxes can be long and stiff. Look at the turns on your stairs, the size of the lift and the width of your hallway before moving day.

  • Parking at home

Choose where the van can stop lawfully at your address. If a permit or a paid bay is needed, tell us who is arranging it and whether it's confirmed.

Assembly

We deliver it in its boxes

An IKEA collection is collection and delivery: we carry your order in, still boxed, to the floor you told us about. We don't build new flat-pack furniture.

The reassembly on our price list is for furniture a move takes apart: a bed, a wardrobe or a table we dismantle at one address and put back together at the other, added and priced before you book. It doesn't cover building new furniture from the box, so if you'd like your order assembled, arrange that separately.

Independent

Independent of IKEA

Movesmith is independent and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by IKEA. You buy from IKEA, and we collect the order you've paid for and deliver it to you. If you'd rather use IKEA's own delivery, book it with IKEA; it's separate from Movesmith.

Your order

Movesmith accepts liability

You book with Movesmith, and Movesmith accepts liability for your order while we move it, under the terms shown before you book. Every move includes Movesmith Cover up to £10,000 — with increased cover up to £50,000 available when you declare a higher value.

How our liability to you works

Beyond London, and bigger moves

Movesmith is UK-wide, strongest in London. Collecting from a store outside London, or taking your order out of town? Enter both postcodes and the quote shows one fixed price for the whole route.

IKEA collection questions

Prices, click-and-collect, assembly and who is responsible for your order.

How much does IKEA delivery cost with Movesmith?

A flat-pack order starts from £100: one flat-pack box up to 25 kg, collected from a store and delivered a short local drive away, near the door at both ends, Monday to Thursday mid-month, including VAT. More boxes, heavier boxes, stairs at home and a longer drive all add time, and all of it is in the fixed price you see before you book.

Can you collect my IKEA click-and-collect order?

Yes. Once the store tells you the order is ready, book a collection from the store and add your order or collection reference. Check first that the store will release the order to someone collecting it for you. We collect it and deliver it to your address on the date you book.

Do you assemble IKEA furniture?

No. We collect and deliver your order in its boxes, carried in to the floor you tell us. The reassembly on our price list is for furniture a move takes apart, such as a bed or a wardrobe we dismantle at one address and put back together at the other. It isn't for building new flat-pack from the box, so arrange assembly separately if you need it.

Is Movesmith part of IKEA?

No. Movesmith is independent and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by IKEA. We're a UK removals and delivery service: you buy from IKEA, and we collect the order you've paid for and deliver it to you.

Can you collect a sofa, mattress or appliance from IKEA?

Yes. A sofa in a box is priced like flat-pack, from its boxes and the heaviest box's weight, and a boxed mattress as that size of mattress travelling boxed. A new appliance in its packaging is collected as that appliance; some need a quick check by our team first. Bought something that comes assembled? It's priced as a single item, from £110 with a team of two.

What if my order isn't ready or doesn't match when you arrive?

The operator follows the collection details you gave and doesn't leave with a different or incomplete order without a decision from Movesmith. They pause and report it to us, and can't change the price or take cash. If the job needs to change, we send you a fixed proposal, and nothing extra happens unless you approve it.

What parking and access details do I need to provide?

Tell us separately about pickup and delivery: choose where the van can park lawfully, then give the carry distance, floor, lift, stairs and any awkward access. A private driveway or unrestricted street selection is enough by itself. For permit-controlled, paid or loading-bay parking, also give who is arranging it, whether it is confirmed, its operating window and the exact lawful position. Unknown or unsupported access is reviewed before we offer a fixed price, and a carry of 50 metres or more needs a tailored review. Do not enter gate codes, passwords or access credentials in the booking.

Who is responsible if something is damaged?

Movesmith accepts liability for your order while we move it, under the terms shown before you book. Every move includes Movesmith Cover up to £10,000 — with increased cover up to £50,000 available when you declare a higher value.

Read our liability to you.

Do you only collect from stores in London?

No. Movesmith is UK-wide, strongest in London. Enter the store's postcode and yours, and the quote shows the fixed price for the whole route before you book, whether the drive is across town or out of London.
