Our operators

Every move performed by an approved operator.

Movesmith checks the documents and details every operator provides before activating their account. Operators agree to keep their vehicles roadworthy and legally compliant, and we monitor real job performance after activation.

What we check at application

  • Goods in Transit insurance — valid policy required before taking jobs.
  • Public Liability insurance — valid policy required.
  • Vehicle-compliance declaration — operators acknowledge in writing that any vehicle they use for Movesmith jobs is roadworthy, taxed, MOT'd where required, insured and legally compliant. Suppliers remain responsible for ongoing compliance.
  • Service-area fit — base postcode and the vehicle type they've declared.
  • Identity — for limited companies, a Companies House check; for sole traders, ID and base-address.

What we monitor after activation

  • Completion rate — operators who consistently complete moves on time, with no damage claims and good customer feedback, get more jobs offered.
  • Reliability — operators carry a record of late cancellations and no-shows. Repeated reliability issues affect future access to jobs and can lead to removal from the platform.
  • Insurance currency — operators are responsible for keeping their cover valid and notifying us if anything lapses.
  • Customer feedback — every move ends with a customer rating that factors into future job offers.

What this means for your move

When Movesmith assigns an operator to your move, they've been through the checks above. Their full company name, contact phone number, and a direct booking link land in your inbox the moment they accept the job. No bidding — we picked them because they're a good match for your route, vehicle size, and timing.
