The prices below are what we charge today. Your price is worked out from what you are moving, the access at each end and the date, and it is fixed before you book. If you later change the requirements, any additional price is agreed before extra work begins.

In London, a man with a van starts from £105 for a single item with 2 movers, fixed and including VAT. It is a price for the job, not an hourly rate: your items, the stairs and parking at each end and the drive are worked into it before you book.

Man and van prices are often quoted by the hour, so the final bill depends on how the day goes. We price the job instead: the time your items, stairs, parking and drive take is worked into one fixed price before you book, and it does not go up if the move runs long. That is why this page shows from-prices for the job rather than an hourly rate.

What your price includes
No hourly meter
We price the whole job, not the hours. Ordinary move time is part of your fixed price.
Access built in
Your quote includes your stairs, lift and carrying distance, so nothing is added on the day. Our "from" prices assume ground floor or a lift, with the van near the door.
Pay after sign-off
We take payment after the move, once you sign it off with your Sign-Off PIN.
£0 to book
Your card is saved when you book. We reserve the price about 48 hours before your move, or once your team is confirmed if it's sooner, and take it after sign-off.
If there's more to move on the day, we price the extra first and it only goes ahead if you approve it.
Storage facility moves
Fixed-price removal to or from your storage facility
Movesmith provides the removal to or from a storage facility that you arrange and pay for. We do not supply, manage or guarantee the storage unit.
The standard fixed-price journey supports one home-to-storage or storage-to-home leg with confirmed facility hours or a matching booked slot, suitable loading access for a 3.5-tonne vehicle, less than 50 metres carry, and ground-floor access or a usable goods lift.
If the facility refuses entry, booked access is missing, the disclosed unit or access is wrong, the facility window is exceeded, or redelivery is needed, the operator pauses and submits a structured report with appropriate evidence. Waiting is free for 15 minutes, then £25 per started 30-minute block up to three blocks; configured failed access is £60; and £120 redelivery applies only to a supported short repeat visit using the same booked locations and disclosed access. A changed or uncertain journey or access needs a fresh fixed quote. Nothing extra is charged and no varied work continues unless you approve; if you reject it, Movesmith Ops coordinates the safe next step or rebooking.
When you move
Busy days — Fridays, weekends, the end of the month and bank holidays — cost a bit more. Monday to Thursday mid-month is our standard price.
These are calendar rules, set in advance — not a live rate that climbs while you are looking at it. Your quote shows the exact fixed price for your date before you book.
Road charges, passed through at cost
If your move crosses the Congestion Charge zone, the Dartford Crossing or a relevant tolled tunnel, the actual charge appears as its own line in your quote. ULEZ is different: it is always the operator's responsibility and is never a customer line item.
Movesmith takes no commission on customer road charges. They go to the operator in full, because they are the one paying on the day. Current rates are set by TfL and the crossing operators, so we link rather than quote a figure that would go stale: current TfL charges.
What we never do
- Run an open-ended hourly meter for the removal. Ordinary move time stays within the fixed quote.
- Surge-price. Our date rules are published in advance and never move with live demand — a date costs the same whether one person is booking it or a hundred.
- Revise the price after the job because it took longer than expected.
- Add a fee on the day for stairs, parking or access you already told us about.
- Charge the customer for ULEZ or take a cut of a customer road charge.
The one thing that does change a price is the job changing — significantly more to move than you described, or access you did not mention. In that case the operator contacts Movesmith before loading and we agree any change with you first, rather than presenting it afterwards. Storage-facility access exceptions follow the published grace, fixed-rule and approval process above; they are never an operator-created or doorstep charge.

Long-distance moves
London to Manchester prices the same way as London to Bromley: one fixed price is shown before booking. The mapped outward and return journey, platform-sized crew, vehicle plan, access and handling are calculated together into that one price. Temporary route failures are retried, while an incomplete scope asks for the exact missing answer and recalculates. Tailored review is reserved for genuinely unsupported routes, access or handling.

What are removals prices in London?
In London, a studio flat starts from £198 and a 1-bed flat from £201, for a typical load on a short local move, fixed and including VAT. We price every UK move the same way, and your exact price is fixed when you book. Any congestion or crossing charge on your route is shown as its own line before you book.

How is my vehicle and journey plan chosen?
Movesmith uses your confirmed inventory, box range, property, access and mapped route to offer a viable one-journey plan and, where it improves the operation, a separately priced two-journey plan. Two journeys use the same supplier, vehicle, crew and driver continuously on the same day; the extra loop is limited to 45 minutes and the complete planned move to ten hours. You actively choose the plan and fixed price before booking. We never change the journey count or price after booking without your express approval.
Are Movesmith’s prices really fixed?
Yes. You see the full price for the items, access and date you give us before you book. Access is built into that price, never added on the day. Supported storage access is priced from the structured details you provide. If the requirements materially change, any additional fixed price is agreed before extra work begins.
Do your prices include VAT?
Yes. Every price includes VAT. Businesses see the ex-VAT amount too, and get a VAT invoice when the card is charged.
Can Movesmith move my belongings to or from a storage facility?

Why does a second-floor flat cost more than a ground-floor one?
Because carrying everything up and down stairs takes longer, and heavy items can need more people. Your price is worked out from the time the job takes, so the floor and whether there is a suitable lift are built into it rather than added as a surprise.
Do stairs cost extra on a house move?
Not as a separate line, on any move. Stairs, lifts and carrying distance change how long the job takes, so they are built into your fixed price.
What happens if the van cannot park outside?
Tell us separately where the van can park lawfully at pickup and delivery, and whether it can stop near the door. Carrying distance is part of the time the job takes, so it is built into your fixed price. A carry of 50 metres or more, unknown parking or an unsupported restriction routes to review or a custom fixed quote rather than being silently assumed.
What parking and access details do I need to provide?
Tell us about pickup and delivery: choose where the van can park lawfully, then give the carry distance, floor, lift, stairs and any awkward access. A private driveway or unrestricted street selection is enough. For permit-controlled, paid or loading-bay parking, also give who is arranging it, whether it is confirmed, its operating window and the exact lawful position. Unknown access, unsupported restrictions or a carry outside the online pricing limits needs a tailored review before we offer a fixed price. Do not enter gate codes, passwords or access credentials in the booking.

What happens if parking or access is different on moving day?
If there is no lawful parking, furniture does not fit, access is unsafe, unplanned dismantling is needed or delivery cannot be completed, the operator pauses the affected work and sends Movesmith a structured report with evidence. The operator cannot invent a charge or take cash at the door. Movesmith reviews the facts and, if the job needs to change, sends you a fixed proposal. Extra work or payment happens only after you expressly approve it; if you reject it, there is no variation charge and Ops arranges the safe next step, rebooking or a fresh quote.
Which road charges are included in my quote?
Where the mapped route requires them, the actual Congestion Charge, Dartford Crossing charge and supported tunnel tolls are included in your one fixed price. Movesmith does not add its platform fee to those exact regulatory amounts. ULEZ remains the operator’s responsibility and is never charged to the customer.
Is the price per hour?
No. Movesmith prices the removal job, not an open-ended hourly meter. Ordinary move time is covered by the fixed quote. The only launch waiting rule is for a storage-facility access exception: 15 minutes free, then £25 per started 30-minute block up to three blocks, with your approval required before any added charge.
Can I save my quote?
Yes. Under your prices, leave an email or a UK mobile number and we send you the quote.
You don't need to give any details to see your prices.
We send up to 2 reminders about that quote, and a message if the price drops. These are service messages, not marketing. Every message has a link to stop them.
Prefer WhatsApp? Message us on 07933 966655. We see your WhatsApp number and your message. WhatsApp is run by Meta, which handles the message under its own terms.
We keep a saved quote for 30 days and the contact details left with it for 90 days, then delete them. If you ask us to stop, we keep that request so we don't message you again.

Should I choose 1 person or 2 people?
You choose when you get your price. Both prices are shown side by side.
1 person: from £105. The driver carries everything alone.
2 people: from £147. Two movers do all the lifting.
Heavy items need 2 people. That includes 3-seat sofas, wardrobes with 2 or more doors, fridge-freezers, washing machines and dryers.
Too heavy on the day? Your mover leaves that item. We rebook it at the 2-person price only if you say yes. You never pay at the door.
Home moves always get 2 people or more.

What is the Price-Drop Promise?
Lower price, lower for you. About 48 hours before your move, we price the same move again on our prices that day. If it is lower, your price goes down too, and we email you.
Never higher. It can only go down, never up. Where our minimum service margin for your move limits the drop, your price falls as far as that allows.
Not covered: promotional codes, partner or organisation discounts, a different date or arrival window, changes you ask for, tailored-review quotes, and bookings paid for when you book because the move is within 48 hours.

Can I book movers for 2 hours, a half day or a full day?
Yes. 2 hours with 2 movers and a Luton van: £205. 2 hours with 3 movers and a Luton van: £275. Half day with 2 movers and a Luton van (4 hours): £340. Full day with 2 movers and a Luton van (8 hours): £680. Full day with 3 movers and a Luton van (8 hours): £920. Prices include VAT.
Office crew from £265 for offices, shops, salons, studios, schools and community spaces. Your exact price for your date is shown before you book.
Everything is included in your hours: stairs and carrying, however far, dismantling and putting back together, any items and boxes, within your hours, a second load, within your hours, help finishing your packing, TV off the wall and back up, doors off and back on.
Extra: packing materials, parking and congestion charges at cost, and mileage outside the local area (shown in your price before you book). Not for pianos, safes or long-distance moves.
Running over? An extra hour is £80 for 2 movers or £120 for 3 movers, charged after the move, never on the doorstep.
Evening starts: a half day can start 4pm to 6pm and a full day 12pm to 2pm, finishing in the evening. Evening start: +£60 with 2 movers, +£90 with 3 movers, shown in your price before you book. Extra hours after 8pm cost the same as any extra hour.
You can book for today too, while a mover can still take it. The price is the same any day; for today we hold it on your card when you book, and if no mover accepts in time you pay nothing.
Book a crew: half or full day.
What if my crew day runs over?
The crew carries on. An extra hour is £80 for 2 movers or £120 for 3 movers.
It's charged after your move, never on the doorstep, from the start and finish times you can see on your tracking page. You get the times and the amount first, with time to query them.
How does booking work, and can I book an office, shop or business move?
Every booking follows the same steps: Where and when, then What you're moving (your list, or the crew and hours), then Your price, with where to send it and how long it is held, then Your details, then Terms, then Card.
Moving an office, shop or business? Choose "An office, shop or business — commercial move", then pick a fixed price for your list (desks, chairs, boxes) or, where it is offered, a crew by the day.
On every move you choose how to book: a fixed price for your list, or a crew by the day. The fixed price is the default. A crew by the day goes through the same steps, including where we send your price and how long it is held.
You can change your answers at any step. Nothing is taken from your card until a mover accepts.
