A whole home. Across town or across the country.

Plan a flat or full-house move using your actual inventory, including boxes and bulky furniture. The vehicle, crew and journey plan depend on what needs moving and access at both addresses. Larger or more complex moves may need a tailored review before we offer a fixed quote.

What your quote covers

Your agreed plan includes the moving team, suitable vehicle, loading, driving and unloading. The mapped journey and planned return operation form part of the fixed total. Access details and selected services are reflected in the quote.

Packing, dismantling and specialist handling must be agreed and priced as part of the plan. If your inventory, route or access changes, we review it and ask you to approve any revised scope and price.

From quote to confirmed operator

Supported moves receive an online quote; moves needing further planning receive a tailored review. Book the fixed price straight away; if no verified mover accepts in time, you pay nothing.

Your booking receipt and operator confirmation are separate. Your move page shows when a moving operator has accepted and is assigned.

Payment and protection

Card setup and a payment authorisation are not a completed payment. Normally payment is collected after your Sign-Off PIN or a documented Movesmith completion review. An expressly agreed multi-day booking may require payment before work starts; the arrangement is explained before you agree.

Required operator insurance is checked for the move date. Review Movesmith’s liability limits, declared-value requirements and exclusions before booking.

Home removals questions

What is included in the fixed price?

A verified crew, a suitably sized vehicle, loading, driving and unloading, clear liability terms based on the details you declare at booking, and any customer road charges shown for your route.

Floors, lifts, carrying distance and waiting are declared before pricing and built into the price once, for every kind of move. Work such as dismantling or disconnecting an appliance is chosen separately and priced before you book.

What parking and access details do I need to provide?

Tell us about pickup and delivery: choose where the van can park lawfully, then give the carry distance, floor, lift, stairs and any awkward access. A private driveway or unrestricted street selection is enough. For permit-controlled, paid or loading-bay parking, also give who is arranging it, whether it is confirmed, its operating window and the exact lawful position. Unknown access, unsupported restrictions or a carry outside the online pricing limits needs a tailored review before we offer a fixed price. Do not enter gate codes, passwords or access credentials in the booking.

See the full pickup and delivery access checklist.

Does Movesmith handle long-distance moves?

Yes, anywhere in the UK. Every move gets an instant fixed price online, however far it goes, including Scotland, Northern Ireland and the islands. The drive, the mileage and the crew's journey home are in one price before you book. Most moves are delivered the day they're collected. The Isles of Scilly, Highland drives over two days and overnight ferries take longer, and your quote shows the delivery day. Ferry moves: your things stay in the locked van with your mover for the whole crossing. The ferry fare is its own line in your quote, at cost.

4 and 5-bedroom moves across England get an instant fixed price too. A small number of routes are quoted by our team first.

Can I book if no mover is based near me?

Yes. Anywhere in the UK, including Scotland, Northern Ireland and the islands gets an instant fixed price online, even where no mover is based nearby.

We offer your move to movers across the UK, and each one chooses whether to take it. Your card is saved, not charged, until a mover accepts.

Still matching? We'll update you a week before your move and again 3 days before. If no mover accepts in time, we cancel the booking and you pay nothing.

Can Movesmith move my belongings to or from a storage facility?

Movesmith provides the removal to or from a storage facility that you arrange and pay for. We do not supply, manage or guarantee the storage unit. The standard fixed-price journey supports one home-to-storage or storage-to-home leg with confirmed facility hours or a matching booked slot, suitable loading access for a 3.5-tonne vehicle, less than 50 metres carry, and ground-floor access or a usable goods lift. If the facility refuses entry, booked access is missing, the disclosed unit or access is wrong, the facility window is exceeded, or redelivery is needed, the operator pauses and submits a structured report with appropriate evidence. Waiting is free for 15 minutes, then £25 per started 30-minute block up to three blocks; configured failed access is £60; and £120 redelivery applies only to a supported short repeat visit using the same booked locations and disclosed access. A changed or uncertain journey or access needs a fresh fixed quote. Nothing extra is charged and no varied work continues unless you approve; if you reject it, Movesmith Ops coordinates the safe next step or rebooking.

Choose “Storage facility” for the relevant pickup or delivery and provide the structured access details. Do not send storage passwords, account credentials or access codes.

See the published storage access rules.

Can I book my move now?

Yes. You can book any date and time the quote still offers. You see the fixed price before you book, and we start looking for a mover straight away. Whether your move goes ahead depends only on a mover accepting it.

If no mover accepts in time, the booking ends automatically and we tell you straight away. You pay nothing: any hold on your card is released, and anything already paid is refunded in full.

Can I cancel if my plans change?

Yes. Cancellation is free 48 hours or more before your move.

Closer to the move there is a published fee: 50% at 24–48 hours, 75% in the final 24 hours and 100% for a customer no-show, because the moving operator has reserved the time.

Change or cancel from the link in your confirmation email.

See the full cancellation breakdown.

What happens if something is damaged?

Tell Movesmith in writing, not the moving operator. Report loss or damage in writing, with details within 7 days of delivery.

We send goods claims to our claims handler, ICA. We stay your first contact. £100 excess per claim. We pay it, so you pay no excess.

Boxes you pack yourself are covered only for fire, collision or the van overturning. For missing contents, you need a valued contents list before the move.

Your private case page shows the next step and when you'll next hear from us. The operator does not see your claim or payment details.

Read the MoveReady Terms and Conditions

and MoveReady Addendum.

When is my payment captured?

After the move, we send you a one-time Sign-Off PIN by text and email. Payment is captured when you voluntarily provide that PIN to confirm completion.

If PIN sign-off cannot happen, Movesmith reviews the move audit trail and documents the completion decision before any capture. A timer or silence alone never releases payment.
