How fixed-price removals work: what to share before you book
A fixed price works best when the addresses, inventory, access and services accurately describe the move you want completed.

A fixed price is most useful when it is tied to a clear description of the move. Two moves between the same postcodes can involve very different work if one is a few packed boxes from a ground-floor flat and the other includes furniture, stairs, a long walk to the van and dismantling. Here is what to prepare before you request a removals price.

- Use a realistic inventory rather than relying only on the property size.
- Include stairs, lifts, parking, carrying distance and building restrictions.
- Add any packing, dismantling or reassembly help you want included.
- If the work changes, update the booking before extra work begins.
1. Start with both addresses
Provide the full pickup and delivery postcodes, then add the property details at each end. Include the property type, floor, whether there is a working lift and anything that limits access.
Do not focus only on the driving distance. The route from the room to the van matters too.
2. Describe what is moving
An accurate inventory is better than a rough label such as ‘one-bedroom flat’. List the main furniture, appliances, boxes and anything unusually heavy, large, fragile or awkward.
If you are still packing, estimate carefully and update the list when you know more. Photos can help explain an item, but they should support rather than replace a clear inventory.
3. Explain the access at both ends
Useful access details include:
- Floor level and lift availability
- Stairs, narrow doorways or tight corners
- The distance from the property to where a van can stop
- Parking permits, loading bays or restricted hours
- Gates, entry codes, concierge arrangements or booked access slots
Check the destination just as carefully as the pickup. A smooth collection can still be followed by a difficult delivery if the second address has not been planned.
4. Add the help you need
Say whether the move includes services beyond loading, transport and unloading. Examples might include packing, dismantling or reassembly, depending on the service available for your move.
If you plan to handle something yourself, be clear about that too. The price should reflect the work you actually want completed.
5. Check the scope before you confirm
Before booking, read the description of the move rather than looking only at the total. Check that the addresses, date, inventory, access and selected services are correct.

Does the booking describe the move you expect the crew to complete? If something is missing or unclear, ask before moving day.
6. Update the move when something changes
Plans do change. You may add furniture, lose lift access, change an address or need extra help. Report a material change through your booking or the current support route as soon as possible so the vehicle, crew, timing and scope can be reviewed before additional work begins.
