What is Movesmith? Movesmith is a removals booking platform where customers across the UK can submit move details and receive a fixed price, then book it straight away; a verified mover accepts the job, and if none does in time the customer pays nothing.

Epsom: racecourse downs, a market town and Ewell village

Epsom is a Surrey town best known for Epsom Downs, where the Oaks and the Derby were first run in 1779 and 1780. It is joined to Ewell, and the pair share one borough, with the town centre around the Clock Tower and the Ashley Centre.

Housing here varies sharply. Victorian terraces and flats surround the centre, 1930s semis fill Stoneleigh and West Ewell, large houses sit near Woodcote and the Downs, and Ewell village keeps a cluster of older cottages by the Hogsmill stream. Open ground at Epsom Common, Horton Country Park and Nonsuch Park hems the town in.

Several stations serve Epsom and Ewell, and the A24 and M25 are close, so Leatherhead, Sutton and Kingston are short moves. Their prices are lower on this page.

Before you move in Epsom

  • Flats in the centre

Blocks round the Ashley Centre have shared entrances and fixed loading points. Say which floor you are on and whether the lift needs booking.

  • Racing days

Big days on the Downs bring heavy traffic to the roads around Tattenham Corner and Epsom Downs. If your move is near a meeting, pick a quieter date if you can.

  • Ewell's older lanes

Parts of Ewell village are narrow and closely built. Tell the quote how near the van can park and how far the carry is.

  • Town edge and downs

Homes towards Langley Vale and Burgh Heath have long drives and open approaches. If the van cannot get to the door, the quote plans the walk.

Parking and highway rules change, so confirm your street's arrangements on the council's own pages before moving day.

Epsom removals — straight answers

Common questions on local moves, pricing and how Movesmith works.

How much does a removal in Epsom cost?

From KT17 to KT18 our engine priced a 1-bed flat at £230 and a 2-bed flat at £265. The floors, the carry and the date move the figure, and you see your fixed price before you book.

Can I book fixed-price removals in Epsom?

Yes. Add both addresses, what you are moving and the access at each end, and the quote returns one fixed price. The date you choose is the date the price is for.

Who handles parking suspensions and waivers in Epsom now?

Surrey County Council has done so since 1 April 2023, and the Borough Council closed its own forms before then. A waiver lets a van park for a stated reason but does not reserve a space; a suspension does.

Are there moving teams near Epsom?

14 approved movers are based within about 20 miles of Epsom. When you book, they can see your job and choose to take it. We save your card when you book. We take nothing until a mover accepts. If no mover accepts, you pay nothing and we tell you straight away.

When is my card charged?

Nothing is taken when you book. Once a mover accepts, we hold the price about 48 hours before your move, or straight away if your move is sooner. Normally we take the payment after the move is done.

Can you move me from Epsom to Leatherhead, Sutton or Kingston?

Yes. The routes on this page price a 1-bed flat from Epsom to Leatherhead, to Sutton and to Kingston upon Thames. For your own move, both addresses go into the quote and the drive is in the fixed figure.

Are the moving operators for Epsom moves verified?

Yes. Movesmith checks identity, Goods in Transit and Public Liability documents, records the declared vehicle type and requires a vehicle-compliance declaration before an operator takes bookings. We do not claim to physically inspect vehicles.

What if something is damaged?

Movesmith shows the applicable liability terms before you book. Your declared goods value helps us match the move with a suitable verified moving operator. Report from your booking page within 7 days of completion — including damage you couldn't reasonably spot at delivery.

What parking and access details do I need to provide?

Tell us about pickup and delivery: choose where the van can park lawfully, then give the carry distance, floor, lift, stairs and any awkward access. A private driveway or unrestricted street selection is enough. For permit-controlled, paid or loading-bay parking, also give who is arranging it, whether it is confirmed, its operating window and the exact lawful position. Unknown access, unsupported restrictions or a carry outside the online pricing limits needs a tailored review before we offer a fixed price. Do not enter gate codes, passwords or access credentials in the booking.

What happens if parking or access is different on moving day?

If there is no lawful parking, furniture does not fit, access is unsafe, unplanned dismantling is needed or delivery cannot be completed, the operator pauses the affected work and sends Movesmith a structured report with evidence. The operator cannot invent a charge or take cash at the door. Movesmith reviews the facts and, if the job needs to change, sends you a fixed proposal. Extra work or payment happens only after you expressly approve it; if you reject it, there is no variation charge and Ops arranges the safe next step, rebooking or a fresh quote.

How much is a man and van in Epsom?

Small loads and single items start from £70, fixed. You see the exact price for your Epsom move before you book — no hourly meter, and the price stays fixed while the move matches the inventory, route and access you confirmed.
