Man and van jobs in Edinburgh: payout shown before you accept
Run a van in Edinburgh or the Lothians? Customers book a fixed price on Movesmith, and verified operators near the pickup are offered the job.
Will I get work?
Work depends on customer demand, your area, availability and suitability for each move. Joining does not guarantee jobs or a weekly income. You can see the complete fixed supplier payout and requirements before deciding whether to accept an offer.
How offers, approval and fees work
Portal access lets you prepare your details. Movesmith reviews your evidence and gives final approval, and current job-eligibility checks still apply. These are separate steps. Approval does not create customer demand.
Suitable suppliers receive offers in ranked groups. Jobs not accepted through those offers can then appear on the job board for eligible suppliers. You can decline before accepting. Acceptance still depends on the job's current checks.
There are no lead or subscription fees. Movesmith's platform commission is part of the job's commercial split; the complete supplier payout is shown before you accept. You do not pay simply to wait for work.
Keep your operating area, vehicle and crew capacity, evidence and availability accurate and current. These help us identify suitable jobs, but cannot guarantee offers.

Moves in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a city of tenements: shared stairs, top-floor flats and cobbled closes where a van can't always stop at the door. The New Town and Old Town add permit parking and tight turns, so the access notes on each job matter.
Jobs customers can book here
Tenement flat moves
Upper-floor flats with shared stairs, where crew size and carrying distance set the plan.
Student moves
Rooms and shared flats around the universities, often small loads on busy changeover days.
New Town and Georgian moves
Multi-floor townhouses and conversions with permit parking and narrow streets.
Moves to and from Glasgow
Runs between Edinburgh and the west of Scotland, where the offer shows the full route and payout.
Nearby areas
Leith, Morningside, Stockbridge, Portobello, Corstorphine, Musselburgh, Dalkeith, Livingston. Offers go to eligible operators near the pickup first, so your base postcode matters more than a place name.
Road charges and zones in Edinburgh
Edinburgh has a Low Emission Zone covering the city centre, enforced every day on all vehicles, vans included. A vehicle that doesn't meet the emissions standard can be fined for driving in. Check your van against the zone map on the council's site before you accept a central job.
Every offer shows the pickup and delivery addresses before you accept, so you can check them against the zone. More cities and how jobs work are on the UK-wide operator page.

What you need, how pay works and what to expect.
Can I take jobs in Edinburgh if I'm based in Fife or the Borders?
Yes. Applications are open across the UK. Offers go to eligible operators by distance from the pickup, so a base outside the city can be offered Edinburgh jobs when demand, route fit and capacity line up. Registering does not guarantee work.
Do Edinburgh road charges affect which jobs I can take?
It can for central jobs. A van that doesn't meet the Low Emission Zone standard can be fined for entering, so check your vehicle and the zone map before you accept a job in the city centre. Suburban and Lothians jobs outside the zone are not affected.
How does pay work for Edinburgh jobs?
Each offer shows one complete fixed payout for the disclosed job before you accept. There is no bidding, no lead fee and no joining fee. Your payout is paid through the platform once the move is completed and signed off. You can decline any offer with no penalty.
What do I need to take jobs?
A suitable van, Goods in Transit and Public Liability insurance, the right to work in the UK and a smartphone. We check your documents by hand, and final approval is separate from applying.
Will I definitely get work in Edinburgh?
No. Customers can request a fixed price from anywhere in the UK, and suitable offers depend on real customer demand, route fit and capacity. Applying or being approved does not guarantee offers or a set volume of jobs.
I'm not based in Edinburgh. Should I still apply?
Yes. Applications are open across the UK. Offers go to eligible operators near the pickup first and widen in stages if nobody accepts.
